What is new / different / improved about the iPhone 4?

I currently have an iPhone 3g that I’m happy with, but since I’m eligible for an upgrade I’ve been considering getting the new iPhone 4. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the difference between the two? What new features will I find? What do you like better about the iPhone 4 than the 3?

Some technical (built-in) reasons to get iPhone 4:

Retina Display (literally the highest resolution display on any mobile device evvver, 640×960px)
FaceTime (the easiest way to video call, you can use it not only over wi-fi but also over 3G using a free app called Tango)

Gyro Sensor (the technology for measuring or maintaining orientation, you can’t even begin to imagine what this does to gaming or 3D advancement.)
Improved Accelerometer (a technology that measures proper acceleration, the acceleration experienced relative to freefall)
Incredibly good Camera (5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, 720p videos at 30fps w/ touch focus and geotagging)

It’s just simply F-Awesome dude. You’re gonna love it.

Can you buy an apple iphone 4 with no contract in the apple retail store?

Im not eligible for an upgrade. so im just trying to figure out if it is possible to buy an iphone 4 where i dont have to have a contract on it at retail price. i dont want to buy it over ebay or anything like that && it says you cant buy it online. if i cant buy it online or at a apple store, are there any other options other than ebay?

or you can buy it from at&t then unlock it

What is the best iphone 4 waterproof case?

I currently have a regular iphone 4 (not the S) and I work around a lot of water. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good waterproof iphone 4 case that still allows good use of the phone itself.

I have the Lifeproof ultra-slim waterproof iphone 4 case. I got it about 7 months ago and it is a very good case. I haven’t dropped it in water or actually tried to submerge it, but I can tell you that it has done a good job when I have used it in the rain. There has been no leaking at all, and it also does a good job keeping dirt and other debris from getting on the iPhone too.

Like you, I wanted a good protector, but I also wanted top be able to actually use the iPhone without much trouble. The ultra-slim design of the Lifeproof case allows me to use all of my iPhone features without any trouble at all. Actually, my wife’s Otterbox is clunkier to use than mine. If you want a good waterproof protector that lets you use your iPhone normally, then I recommend the Lifeproof. It’s a great case for anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors.

- As already mentioned, this jailbreak does not work on the iPad 2 or iPhone 4S.
- If you unlock with GEVEY or Ultrasn0w, DO NOT update to the stock iOS 5.1 firmware. Skip to the latter part of this guide for more info.
- You will be booting tethered quite a bit, so if you don’t think you can deal with constantly connecting and rebooting, wait for an untethered or downgrade to iOS 5.0.1/4.x.

Note To Unlockers:
- If you use the GEVEY SIM interposer or Ultrasn0w to unlock your iPhone, you will need to create a custom .iPSW, in order to preserve your baseband.
- In Redsn0w, select “Extras”, then “Custom IPSW”, locate your iOS 5.1 file, and let Redsn0w work its magic.
- Then enter pwned DFU mode (Extras – Pwned DFU) and restore to your custom firmware via iTunes. After that, you’ll be able to unlock with GEVEY or Ultrasn0w (when it is available).

Dev-Team Notes:

- Soon after 5.1 appears on Apple’s public servers (i.e. iTunes starts to offer it), Apple will stop signing 5.0.1 SHSH blobs.
If you have an iPhone4S, the basic rule above is really the only rule: you cannot restore back to 5.0.1 once the 5.0.1 signing window is closed, no matter what (even if you saved your SHSH blobs).
- If you have an iPad2 with saved 4.x hashes, you can in fact downgrade to that 4.x but you won’t be able to get to 5.0.1 once the 5.0.1 signing window is closed (even if you saved your 5.0.1 SHSH blobs).
- If you have a device earlier than the iPad2, you can downgrade to whatever version you want, as long as you have saved SHSH blobs for that version. You’ll need the assistance of geohot’s limera1n exploit with tools like redsn0w to get into “pwned DFU mode” and bypass the downgrade restriction.

I had my iphone 4 for 2 days and it broke, How do I get a new one?

I bought a new iphone 4 (at&t) online refurbished as a part of my upgrade. I got it in the mail and the right side of the touch screen stopped working after 2 days. I took it up to the at&t store near where I live and they said they couldn’t take it because it was refurbished. I was told to ship it back but there is no return address. What do I do?

Take it to an At&t store. They will replace it for free as long as the purchase was made less than a year ago.
